Default Joystick help for handicapped gamer

I have a nuero/muscular disease that limits my hands very
much. Keyboard use in games is of no use as I can only type using one
finger (my middle.. .. No. I'm serious). I have a CH FlightStick
Pro/Throttle setup that serves me well, but in FPS games, it's no good
for aiming. In Quake2 the joystick's AxisX is set to turn. How can I
set it to strafe left, and right? Thanks.

Download a program called Joystick 2 Mouse. You can assign your joystick
buttons and axis' to keys. That way you can use them in any game. Also you
can put in a autoexec to control the asis in Q2.
Here is an example of one I use:
in_joystick 1 //turns joystick support ON
joy_advanced 1 //turns on advanced axes variables
joy_advaxisy 3 //sets joystick left & right to strafe left & right
joy_sidesensitivity -1//Ramp up speed, higher numbers = get to full strafe
speed faster.

Just look for the Q2 console commands to set it exactly to fit your needs.

Ok... try this....open notepad and put this in it. Then rename it to
autoexec.cfg and put it in the game.

in_joystick 1 //turns joystick support ON
joy_advanced 1 //turns on advanced axes variables
joy_advaxisx 3 //sets joystick left & right to strafe left & right
joy_sidesensitivity -1//Ramp up speed, higher numbers = get to full strafe
speed faster
