Believe it or not, the Second Great Depression is right around the corner !! With interest rates increasing, savings rates near zero, and debt at its maximum; many people will be pushed over their debt limit, having homes foreclosed by the banks or going into bankruptcy. Others will heed the warnings and reduce spending, causing a dramatic slowing of the economy. The Second Great Depression came with the CU.

The CU actually as the first one. The second came with the NGE!

Indeed SOE is one step ahead of us with the THIRD depression: Jedi
expertise or whatever they call this crap. If this thing isn't a 1 to 1
copy of WoW's talent system, then I dunno...

So totally sad.

These developers are just juicing a paycheck as long as they can while
beefing up a resume.

It's really sad.

No, the first was launch, when people discovered the game was Star
Wars only in the name and the stage: You still whacked animals for
loot and dug for resources like in every other MMOG under the Sun, but
you were doing it on Tatooine!

Well, What do you think they wanted?? I mean you can only live out the
movies so many tiimes before they get boring. Even during my pot
smoking stoner days after seeing the first film about 16 times it got
old.

The game has to have an immersive community. Otherwsie it becomes a
Disblo II or a Battlefield 1942 run and gun. Granted, about 5% of the
players were looking for that kind of game..... But to expect anything
more than a stage and a background was expecting TOO much!

I agree with you on the houses and the harvesters. But I gotta disagree on
the jedi grind. To become jedi HAD to be hard work...becoming it by stupid
grinding was dumb, ok...but it HAD TO BE HARD. Look at what SOE did to this
game over the past 3 years...they could have an even WORSE idea for
becoming jedi (I don't even want to imagine what kind of idea). Everyone of
us pre-cu jedi was ABSOLUTELY PROUD of what he achieved by hard work
(grind, grind, grind). Once in a while even other players said that they
found it awesome that some people had the endurance to finish that long,
long painful grind.

Heck, I am still proud of my jedi! If there was a pre-cu server I would
start the (almost) 1-year-grind again AT ONCE!

Well, I didn't then, never before and still do not like grinding in
ANY form in ANY game.

I look at a game like SWG or EQ2 or UO or any of those offewring a
virtual world as actually living in that world. It's an extension of
your life.

If you grind in your real life.... you burn out quickly. You cannot
sustain that level of activity indefinatly. Eventually you crash and
change your life. Same with the games. The trick to sustained
involvement in a game, and in real life for that matter, is finding
yourself a niche and filling it. It gives you a purpose for being
wherever you are. Without a purpose for being there, you won't stay
for long.
