Default Worth going back to?

Played SWG for a few years. NGE came out and I spent just under a month with
NGE and left. Couldn't believe any sane person could have made those
changes. I seem to be getting an urge to go back. Not sure if its because I
want to see my old character and his houses again or whether it's just my
memories from the era when it was good.

Anyone still playing? Whats it like? Any better than the original NGE
release? What are the pops like these days? I hear there is a new PvP city
or something(?) is this any good?

I would post on the official forums, but no account = no posts!

Thanks
RobP

I'm still playing (Since Sept 03) but I'm starting to consider canceling my
accounts.

Yes, people are still playing.

If you take the original NGE deployment & improve it with some of the
features from the CU-era game, you'd have a good approximation of the
current game. The next publish is supposed to add a kind of lock on so you
can just shoot your gun or swing your weapon & hit the locked target (if you
chose to turn that on). CH is still not in. Crafting is more useful now,
but still not up to what it was Pre or Post CU. Damage is based on weapons
now, not just your level so equipment makes a difference again. Honestly at
the rate their going, it's going to take another year before they've got the
game back to Pre-NGE standards, though they say some things from Pre-NGE are
never coming back.

Pops? If you mean population, it's actually higher than most people think.
It's no where near Pre-NGE levels, but you'll normally see other people
around without looking too hard unless you're out in deepest, darkest Yavin.

New PvP City - the Battle of Restuss just happened last night on Lowca & a
lot of other servers, I think the European servers get it today/tonight.
After the phase 2 Battle, the town is virtually destroyed & the area around
it is a PvP area... if you enter you're flagged SF, Neutrals can't enter the
area. There are Rebel/Imperial bases near the area that give [PvE] missions
into the area. The extra danger of course is if an opposing faction team is
operating in the area and takes you out. Starport for Restuss is now moved
to a refugee camp not too far from the Old City or the 2 bases. I'm not a
big PvPer, but I had been planning to be at the Battle & it was fun...
rather lopsided against the Empire and I'm sure they didn't have quite as
much fun as a result, but fun none the less. Thought I was going to lock up
hard when the [old] starport exploded.

Is it worth coming back? Depends on just why you left. People are coming
back, and there are a fair number of vets now but there don't seem to be as
many actual newbies anymore. If you're not playing something else then
buying a month's access wouldn't be a bad idea... after Chapter 2/Publish 30
goes in. I'd wait until then though as I'm looking forward to the targeting
changes (maybe).

Thanks
