Default Civ3 on Intel Mac

Hi!

Now that I have a MacBook I would like to play Civ III on it and so I want
to buy it. As far as I know there is a universal binary patch - does this
work with all Civ III versions available for Mac or do I have to buy a
certain version?

There is a Civ III Complete version for the Mac that I would recommend. It
contains the initial "Vanilla" release, as well as both expansion packs
"Play the World" and "Conquests."

This version is unfortunately not available here in germany. Only a "game of
the year" edition. Is it possible to apply the patch for this version, too?
Any experience?
