I think it's a matter of not reading the manual... but that, in my book, is a very minor sin.
|
Well, I got the game at Walmart and it didn't come with the manual. I've checked out the Civilpedia, as well as faqs and walkthroughs on Gamefaqs, but the game is so complex sometimes it hard to find specific answers to my questions, for example. I want to mine the gold I see in squares of the map in my territory, but what I read says to have the worker 'work that square' but I'm not sure what they mean by that as there's no 'mine gold' command...
|
The usual way: if you build a road ("R" command) it will increase commerce
yield (which in turn can be used for research, luxury and money); and if you
mine it ("M") it will increase shield production. If you have already
improved the square, building a railroad (when you'll have the technology)
will give a further increase. Remember, however, that this only applies to
square within the radius of one of your cities (it is not a tradable
resource)
A pity you didn't get the manual, by the way - Civ games usually came with
nice and useful manuals, and addicts like me actually like to pore them...
: -) You might be able to find it in some downloadable format, but I do not
know for sure.
Alfredo.

No big loss -- the manual sucks.

This is a horrible problem. There are "worker" units, and inside the
city screen you can set population to "work" the land. The same term
should never have been used in both contexts.
You mine a square with gold the same way you mine any other square.
You use it the same way you use a hill that is mined.

Thanks! There wasn't a .pdf on the cd, but I found one online.
