Sure, you shouldn't get good at anything if you practise. I honestly don't know why all those elite athletes bother with all that hard work and training...

I am familiar with the effects of practice. And I always make sure my
ping is low. But there is a limit to how good one can get -regardless-
of the amount of practice. The accuracy of shooting often seen in CS is
-absurd-.

What is the deal with the absurdly accurate shooting? Are half the players cheating or is it just that the game design is bad?
|
There's a third possibility you haven't yet considered.
|
That I suck. Well, yes, obviously. What I'm talking about is someone popping around a corner and getting me with a headshot in a immeasurably short time. With an unscoped rifle held at the hip. And doing it over and over and over again.
|
Which weapon was it? Were you standing still? Even worse, were you
standing in the same place for multiple deaths? Some people can run,
jump, and headshot you with no effort at all. It doesn't mean they are
cheating, though. It could mean they have no life and play for 50
hours/week. Also, some players get "absurdly" good with one certain
weapon and own everybody else when they have it. Give them another type
of gun and they are mere mortals again.

Not really, most people seem to suck.

That is my dream. To be good enough to be accused of hacking.

It sucks, being banned just for being averagly good / lucky, sucks.

To spot an expert non-hacking player, if you watch them, after a while, they will do something unbelievably stupid and get themselves killed, just like the rest of us.

The best way to know if someone is hacking, is to have actual experience of
seeing cheats in action.

I find that significant "mouse tuning" is necessary to get the most
desirable mouse response for aiming movements with my mouse hand. If
mouse sens is off by .1 then I miss more. When I change brands of
mouse, it takes me some time to get the best setup figured out again,
so I stick with the same old mouse I've used for 3 or 4 years now for
gaming, it's actually a cheaper logitech optical mouse. I have
several machines capable of playing CS with good frame rates (4
actually) but I only play the game on one of the machines due to the
mouse/game setup issues. Oddly, I started FPS gaming (Unreal
Tournament) using a ball mouse and liked it as much as the optical
mouse, particularly if I accidentally picked up the ball mouse no odd
aim occurred as compared with an accidental elevation of an optical
mouse from the mousepad surface. But alas, one gets tired of cleaning
a ball mouse. Cya.

Kyle

It's that people are very serious about the game and have enough desire to
win that they will practice and do other stuff like put a crosshair on the
screen with a grease pen, so they can shoot accurately without scoping.

Being accused of hacking is a bit like losing your virginity or your first
eBay negative - very emotional at the start, but the novelty wears off. I
was well pleased when someone thought I was so good I _must_ be cheating. I
know how much I usck, but they were a couple of good kills in among a few
lucky random hits.

Being accused is laughable. Its mostly, but not always, people who dont play
cs much, so they're opinion is fairly irrelevant. Its more annoying being
banned from servers that ya like to play on, for no good reason other than
being better than someone who happens to be an admin, and is less skilled.
But meh, they pay for it, if all they like to do is slay n00bs, that is up
to them.
