[CIV4] Off the Fat Cross?
What happens to production that occurs on a square that is not in the
fat cross of any city? Is it lost?

Yes, unless it's a resource such as iron or corn. Then you get the benefits
of having iron, corn or whatever it is, but that's it.

This reminds me: how does the Ironworks work? Do you have to have
Iron and/or Coal within the cross, or does it just have to be in the
cultural boundaries?

Unlike Civ III, all that is needed is that the city belongs to you. I don't
believe you even need to *have* iron to build the Ironworks, though I could
be wrong there.

If you have iron AND coal, you get a big production bonus. If you only have
one of them, you get a smaller bonus...
