Default PS3's on eBay (and so it begins)

http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PLAYSTATIO...1QQcmdZViewItem

I can't believe it. I feel sorry for people that really want a PS3 but
can't get one because jerkoffs like this want to make a buck off of morons
with deeper pockets than common sense.

And before anyone ask, this is not my auction.
I do purchase and sell a ton on eBay but I would never spam my item
listings.
I just picked somejackass radmonly. Don't be suprised if this link doesn't
work. eBay is cancelling a lot of these listings for some reason.

Well, at least he's doing the right thing and getting rid of it asap.

What? $2000??? Holy shit! I hope the buyer was some other jackass that just
wanted to piss the seller off. LOL.

Forgot to add... Well, at least the X360 will have a good Xmas sales year to
itself. They are available in quantity and affordable. Next year will be a
different story.

He was a fool for selling it so cheap. People will be shelling out over $5k
for a PS3 on eBay launch week. Just watch. People were paying upwards of $3k
for a 360 launch week.

Joystiq posited one possible reason for all of the PS3 auction
cancellations, and it's a good one IMHO:

They are being cancelled because of eBay's pre-sale policy. The item
must be shipped by the 30th day and it's only Oct 11th now.

According to Joystiq, timing apparently wasn't a factor. By eBay's rules,
the pre-sold item being auctioned *must* be available for delivery within
30 days of the auction's end *or* within 30 days of the item being picked
up at the store by the seller. Most of the auctions apparently met the
time factor (the two auctions cited by Joystiq were originally set to end
less than 30 days before the PS3's 11/17 launch date), yet they were
still cancelled.

No, what got all of those auctions cancelled was the fact that the items
could not be *guaranteed* to be available, time factor or no. eBay's pre-
sell policy says that items *must* be guaranteed to be available within
30 days of end of auction or retail purchase, but EB/GS mentioned in
their pre-order notice that they (EB/GS) could *not* guarantee that
anyone who preordered a PS3 yesterday would get one on 11/17.

eBay is merely covering their asses to keep from getting any flak like
what EB/GS would get from customers who preordered a PS3 who may end up
*not* getting one on 11/17.

Please see the citations I posted earlier in this thread.
