Default Research shows massive support for the PS3, Xflop Fanbitches in pathological self den

http://www.ps3land.com/article-840.php

In recent research done by Los Angeles based Interpret (a technological
research company) the findings show an overwhelming consumer support for the
PLAYSTATION 3. The study shows that around 8.9 million Americans are
prepared to pay full price ($500-$600) for the PS3, 5.7 million who are
prepared to buy the Wii at $250 and 800,000 who are willing to pay $300-$400
for the Xbox360.

The study consisted of 2,000 random interviews Interpret gave online. They
then weighted it to the 2004 U.S. Census data of people in the U.S. Lastly,
they backed it up by a telephone survey to make sure the online data wasn't
over-represented by females, which is an issue with online surveys.

The research also predicts that by 2008 the PS3 will have an established fan
base of 12 million in the U.S. The Xbox360 for over a year now has held an
unanswered lead in the nex-gen war. However, with the ratios stated above,
the Xbox360 might have a hard time keeping that lead when the PS3 and Wii
launch this fall. The key to winning in the U.S. lies in Sony's ability to
keep to marketplace supplied with ample nex-gen consoles. If they can keep
their supply up, then Microsoft may be in trouble.

haha, too bad they won't be able to get one this holiday season. On the
upside, guess what they'll be able to get? Yup, an XBOX360 and a Wii.

Interpret is a brand new consulting firm looking for some easy press.

If this survey is true, that means PS3s will continue to sell out at $600
until 9 million of them have entered the market. If you believe that, I've
got some nice land in Florida you might be interested in.

No, it doesn't predict this at all. That's the illiterate shit for brains at
PS3land misreading the story he ripped off from Next Generation. And 12
million by 2008 means the PS3 will still be trailing the 360 by several
million heading into that year.

The report also details the benefits of developers being platform agnostic,
while pointing out that exclusive games remain a system's strongest selling
point. Sony already lost their biggest exclusive franchise, while the 360
has the most interesting roster of exclusives overall. That's a natural
advantage that goes to the console that develops a sizable installed base
first. Developing exclusives for the console with a smaller installed base
is risky, and this generation is so expensive that few developers can afford
to take those risks.

By mid-2008 we should have a horse race on our hands, assuming the PS3 has
slashed its price to something that the average consumer won't choke to
death on.

Online studies are notoriously unreliable. Here's a good example:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2568

Which of the two launch consoles do you plan to buy this year?

Both of them, I need 'em all 10.44% 4679
Just a PS3, no Wii for me 13.55% 6077
Just a Wii, no PS3 for me 53.56% 24016
Neither one, I'm happy with my 360 7.96% 3569
Neither one, I'll stick with my current systems 14.49% 6498
TOTAL VOTES 44839

Hmm... so based on this "study", which has 42,000 more respondents than
the one you quote, the Wii is going to be a runaway hit and the PS3
will be an abject failure.

In reality this says more about the people taking part in the poll than
anything else:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2470

When do you start back to school?

I've already started back 9.35% 9405
This week 6.97% 7013
Next week 13.22% 13302
In two weeks 15.72% 15815
Not until September 31.28% 31468
Never... unless I decide to go back someday 23.45% 23593
TOTAL VOTES 100596

Suddenly it makes more sense...

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2493

Got DS?
Yes, a DS Lite 18.03% 15489
Yes, the original model 36.85% 31653
No, but I might get one this year 13.16% 11308
No, I'd rather have a PSP 13.92% 11957
No, I don't play portable games 18.04% 15498
TOTAL VOTES 85905

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2492

Got GameCube?
Yes, and I still play it reguarly 37.46% 36027
Yes, but I rarely play it 27.09% 26051
Yes, but it's not hooked up 8.12% 7811
No, but I'm planning to get a Wii 11.54% 11102
No, Nintendo just doesn't do it for me 15.79% 15190
TOTAL VOTES 96181
