PSM3 debunks PS3's overheating issues, another kick in the groin of the Xflop Fanbitc
PSM3, one of the largest PlayStation 3 magazine publications in the world,
recently discussed the rumoured overheating and noise issues with the PS3.
http://www.ps3land.com/article-832.php
Daniel Griffiths, journalist for PSM3, wrote, "Here's the independent,
non-Sony approved truth. We've played a PS3, for a day, in a room, with it
on a table in front of us. At no stage did anyone comment about the noise it
made (ie, next to none). And a collegue put his hand behind the machine
after it had been running for a few hours and felt warm air being quietly
and safely extracted via a fan via the vents at the back of the machine. The
surface of the machine remained at room temperature with a small portion at
the back being 'warm'. Not hot - 'warm'... [the] PS3 generates less heat and
noise than the combination of 360 and powerbrick."
Now this was just one PS3, so there could still be a percentage of retail
PS3's with overheating problems but from the sounds of it its very unlikely.
The PlayStation 3 launches this November in Japan and US, and will release
in March for the UK.

Well since I'd not be able to buy one before MARCH 2007 I'd hope that
they were able to iron out any possible overheating problems by then.
Thanks for nothing Sony.

That sounds very good actually. I'm optimistic that the system will not be a
disappointment to anyone who ordered it already or will purchase it in a few
months time. To be honest, while I absolutely hate the games library of the
PS2 and find a lot of the games overhyped and overrated, the machines
themselves were always cleverly designed IMO. Hopefully the PS3 will be no
different. I still won't buy it, but it would be nice to see it be a true
clever design.
