up (got a (figuratively) 'big honking motor'(rated at 0.5 - .75

The new one is bigger. That new motor looks about the same dimension wise,
is this still a brushless DC? Three heavy leads. Will this one have a
cooling coil also?

For a heli, I would need a motor that can develop 1.0 to 1.2 hp at 25,000
rpm. With gear reduction, this would yeild 1,600 rpm on the rotor. Would a
brushless DC motor be able to provide a constant 20,000 to 25,000 rpm at
varying load for the duration of a run? The rotor needs to turn at a fairly
constant rate to keep a bird in flight. The only low speeds would be at
idle on the ground. This might be why they've stayed gas/nitro for any of
the larger models.

Its kinda freaky...they both go faster than the big orange Avon 525 we take
camping, and that at the moment has got and 18 horse Evinrude on it!

being small does have some advantages <G> otoh these boats only have a
runtime of 2-3 minutes.
new boat is a bit over an inch longer at 21 5/8" (and closer to the
description given). water cooled you betcha(water jacket tho) and
brushless(rated at 4436kv). they do make bl motors that would provide that

application samples, might need lipo's to keep the weight down. as well as
motor controllers w/govenors for helis.
