Default LOL - Pre-orders already hitting Ebay

These dumbasses don't even have PS3s yet and they are already trying to
unload them:

http://news.spong.com/article/10927

Looks like Ebay isn't having any of it though... they are cancelling
auctions and banning users for posting items until they are within 30
days of availability.

Anyone here surprised? There's been a shitload of middleman wanna-be's
proclaiming how they're getting in on a PS3 for the sole purpose of
auctioning it off. Though I have yet to come across a single person
who said they'd be willing to BUY one on eBay... not that the suckers
aren't out there, but still.

Now, keeping in mind that the following is totally anecdotal, check out
a snippet from this thread over on AVS:

=========================
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=734709

"A friend and I camped out this morning in N. VA stores at 6:30am. One
store took 16 preorders and the other took 14.

At the first store with 16 units, only 4 (including myself) of the 16
people said they intended to keep the PS3 -- they were buying the PS3
for birthday or Christmas presents, while the other 12 were buying to
resell on ebay. About half of the 12 people buying for resale purposes
had no interest in the PS3 at all, while the other half intended to buy
a PS3 for themselves later.

The second store with 14 units was much the same. Only 3 of the 14 said
they intended to keep the PS3 (Christmas presents), while the other 11
said they were selling. In this case, 8 of the 11 that were selling
said they would buy a PS3 for themselves next year."

Why am I reminded of the losers who quit their jobs to stand in line for
weeks to see The Phantom Menace?

This spong link has the info bassackwards.
You don't have to wait until Oct. 18th to list the PS3.
You can list your PS3 today but the listing can't end 'before' Oct 18th.
These morons with buy it now prices are the ones getting their auctions
cancelled and banned.

Damn for $3k I'm almost willing to take a shot at it but I am too nice to
take advantage of dumbshits with deeper pockets than common sense.

$3k for a receipt?

I think I heard of one PS2 auction hitting something like $7k or something
at the peak of the stupidity.

Hmmm... I found links supporting the Spong interpretation on Digg:

http://ps3timer.com/ebay.html

Today is: Wed Oct 11 2006
PS3 on eBay Day is: Wen Oct 18 2006 12:00AM
7 days, 9 hours, 31 minutes, and 1 seconds remain...

What is this all about? Well it turns out that eBay has a little policy
about pre-sales of items (like the PS3). You can't list it more than 30
days in advance. As you can tell from the normal PS3Timer.com, we
haven't hit that mark yet. Soooooo...many of us that put up auctions on
our pre-sale PS3's got our auctions removed and accounts suspended
Thankfully there is a way to get your account turned back on (6 faxed
pages later) and we can just sit and wait for the above counter to tell
us it is time to relist....

That's great and all but I'm telling you that eBay is allowing people to
list PS3's as long as the listing ends on or after Oct 18th.
I added almost every listing PS3 related and the only ones eBay cancelled
are those with the "buy it now" option or those ending before Oct 18.

I saw the 360 hit nearly $4k with an extra controller and '1' game the day
it launched in the U.S.
I think we will see $5 to 7k be the norm launch day for the PS3. I wouldn't
be shocked in the least to see one possibly hit the 10k mark.

Now that was a fine ass-raping since the movie sucked so hard.

Huh? All rich people should be taken advantage of as much as possible.
