Anyone else read the official forums?

Pretty astonished at people there. A guy is asking for a way to get around
the upcoming restrictions on addons for his
disabled GF. OK probably not the best place to post such info, but the large
amount abuse and general pi** taking that followed has made me think twice
about the sort of people im actually interacting with.

Glad I don't read them much then, I'll make sure to avoid that thread if I
come across it... or maybe go through it hitting "report post" a lot.

Would you mind posting a link to these upcoming restrictions? I'm an
add-on manic and haven't heard anything about it yet. This could
seriously mess up my WoW experience .

(overall though yes, I've noticed some very rude people on the official
forums. I do have to venture there sometimes though just because of of
much traffic they receive).

Click heal wont work
group buttons wont work
bg healer wont work.
anything that auto selects ranks of spells isnt going to work.
they broke this on us before but give it some time and people will find
a work around for it.

go to the google group lazyusers for those people who use the
/lazyscript addon and their is a thread about it going out of
development soon because of the TOS changes for lua scripts etc. there
are multiple links to posts on the official boards by where blizz
spells out a lot of changes that are coming up. Looks like LOTS of
addons are about to get broke. ***INCLUDING DECURSIVE*** : (

The professions forum and class forums stickies are worth your attention.

I usually look at the first page of Realm Status, Tech Support , and General
forums for latest information on maintenance or other issues that concern
me. I also browse my realm forum from time to time to see what the trolls
and drama club are up to.

Click healing and group buttons will still be possible as far as I
know.

Dunno what this is.

This is correct.

The aim is to remove the ability to have add-ons make decisions for
you. You'll not be able to change the function that an action button
performs whilst in combat so it'll not be able to select a rank for you
and it'll not be able to select the cure spell either. Also, they have
removed the ability to change the target of an action in code which
will disable the mods that cast a heal on the most damaged party member
and it will also mean that you'll not be able to click cast on
emergency monitors. They have put something in to make a button always
perform it's action on a particular target so that'll probably enable
group buttons to still function.

Um, try reading the info properly, Blizz stated that most of those *will*
work. Certainly click heal and group buttons will, it's only bot-like
addons that will be broken, and quite right too. If people are too lazy to
even choose their own spells they need to reroll another class.

The proper information:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/t...0815451&sid=1#0

What it basically means is that the player must choose the spell and the
target, instead of just hitting one button and having everything chosen for
them. There is a healing mod I've heard of where you just hit one single
button over and over and it chooses who to heal and with what spell.
Totally lazy, and sure to lead to appallingly bad healing so it's quite
right that that's not going to work any more.

What *will* work is mods that allow click healing, that allow a player to
be highlighted to show they need attention, that allow buttons to be placed
next to players to easy access to heal them, etc etc. So anyone who's been
*healing* instead of botting will be fine.

I've not heard of a healing button but Decursive definitely qualifies.
When you are in a raid of 40 in MC, Decursive can mean the difference
between success and failure. Decursive has a window that pops up that
shows everyone who has a debuff on them. You can configure this list
to sort in priority order such as warriors first or group 1 first.
Then you set up a macro to call the Decursive mod and it will go down
that list and "decurse" everyone it can. Very convenient. Too bad
they are taking it away.

Instead of using Decursive i'll just use Group Buttons. I have them
configured now to show the proper "decurse" button whenever someone is
debuffed. In the future instead of watching the Decursive list I guess
I'll just be watching the raid list.

I do.

I read my own server's forum pretty regularly. When bored I read any
combination of general, professions, class forums and pvp (in about
that order for frequency).

I like my realm forum as it helps me to get in touch w/ the community
(particularly as I'm approaching 60), and I like the professions forum.
The others I find some good info at times but mainly piss me off (particularly
the pvp one).
