Default what about missions?

Since I've been back I often hear people asking for more for dain1. I've
ignored it because I thought that was some high level thing and my new guy
is only 35, but yesterday someone sent me a tell asking if i wanted to go.
I'd just joined a group so I didnt, but think I oughta learn something about
it before the next time. Is it really any level? Do I need to do any prep
quests? Where do I go and what do I do? I just dont want to waste the
groups time accepting an invite then not knowing what is considered common
knowledge at this point. I have all expansions enabled, and am playing a
drakkin rogue.

MM (monster missions) suck :-)

You can do them at level 1, because all the characters become
"monsters" - sort of npc's - for the thing. You don't need to know
how to play your class because the monster classes are all very different
(mostly simplified) versions of player classes. For instance, in the
Dain 1 MM, if you know the strategy, the players with the cleric characters
remember to click "heal" every so often, and the warrior knows that he's
supposed to click a mob and type 'a' you can hardly lose. Loot "scales"
so that when you pop back out whatever you won becomes appropriate
for your level, and...there's no death penalty, you just fail to win.

They're also boring as hell. I sometimes take a MM group if
I've been lfg for more than an hour. It's a good way to grind out AAs.

But it's boring as hell.

No they don't.

Not entirely true. You need to know how to heal if you play a cleric in
the Dain missions, for example. You don't need to be able to play an EQ
PC Cleric, but you need to know how to play a cleric that can handle
aggro, use long casting big heals, etc.

Well, considering the number of people who do lose, I'm not sure that's
accurate. You need to be able to work as a team, co-ordinate,
communicate and use your skills.

Doing the same mission over and over is as boring as hell, just like
anything, but doing the missions for the first time, or a few times to
help friends can be fun. Doing the Rivervale zombie mission was some of
the best fun I ever had in EQ. Brraiiiinnnnnnnssssssssssssssss.

Monster Missions are another aspect to EQ, which some people enjoy, some
hate, some abuse and some ignore. But they can be fun, entertaining,
low entry requirements, and a good way to pass a set amount of time with
people you may or may not know.

The only real problem is that in a lot of cases, because people are
farming them for XP or a specific drop, they learn the 'quickest' way to
beat the mission, and then just do it over and over and over, and they
may well invite others and not communicate the slightest bit of
information to them, and just run through the steps. That's a problem
with people, not monster missions.

Do the Naggy mission in Lavastorm and listen to the people 'raiding' him
crying out when they die - it's hilarious.
