Not Familiar With Xbox Resolution
I have a 37" Westinghouse HD LDC (up to 1080p). I was looking at getting an
Xbox (the older model). Does it have the capability to display at 16:9? I've
looked at the back of some of the video games and they seem to vary on HD
from 480p to 720p and a couple of 1080i's.

Yes, it can. Just not in HD.

yep it will support widescreen. Most of the later games are at least 480p
(and they look fine stretched) and some of the games are 720p. So few games
are 1080i, that you really can't even count that.

True HD output. The XBox console can display in those resolutions, but the
outputting graphics themselves are not HD.

Without the HD input, the weather effects on the Tiger Woods games
really come out poorly. You can't really tell the difference between a
heavy or light rain. We sure could use some rain right now though, it'd
be nice. Good time for rain.

Not Familiar With Xbox Resolution
Thanks everyone. I guess I will go to the local game exchange today and get
one. I don't really see a need to blow major cash on a 360. The older one
seems to have allot of games already. And I'm way past keeping up with video
game systems. It took me this long to get a hd tv and a media center pc
setup.

Whoa.
1. The original XBox doesn't work with Media Center. The 360 does.
2. The XBox does NOT offer the same HD resolution as the 360. There's a HUGE
difference between the two. The XBox can display in those resolutions. It
can NOT output in the same resolutions as the 360, not even close.

You probably don't realize it, but you are part of the most important gaming
demographic out there. Your decision to not spend money on a 360 is one that
other gamers will take and avoid the 360, the Wii AND the PS3.
Thank you for that.
