Default "couldn't exec gamespy.cfg"

I get a "couldn't execute gamespy.cfg" message from quake 2 every time
I try to log on to a Quake 2 server.

I think I may not have successfully upgraded to 3.20; I get a "couldn't
load pics/colormap.pcx" error from windows when I try to run quake 2
alone.

Am I missing this file, and is that why I can't log on to any
multiplayer servers?

Can someone tell me where I might find this file?

THanks very much...

your "missing file" is in ...\baseq2\pak0.pak and this message usually means
that Q2 is lost and cannot find the baseq2 directory or possibly read-only
or hidden attributes on some of the files is confusing Q2. Check your
shortcut for the startup directory (which should be the directory containing
the quake2.exe file) and the attributes of the main Q2 files.

It's not your fault, the gamespy.cfg file on the server you are trying to
connect to is bad. Send the owner of the server an email.
